I have been working with Andrew for a little over a year now and it has been extremely beneficial. Before I worked with Andrew I ran a lot but didn’t see the results I was looking for. Andrew has taught me how to safely incorporate weights and resistance training into my workouts to help me reach my fitness goals. Andrew has created a variety of workouts for me to keep working out interesting and challenging. He always seems to know my limits, often times better than I do, pushing me to do better without discouraging me. Andrew has also gone beyond just training me at the gym but has also provided me with workouts to do when I cannot make it to the gym. He even gave me workouts for my three-week trip to Hawaii to keep me in shape. Along with increasing my comfort with weights and resistance, Andrew has also helped me refine my diet and has provided me with smart eating tips to help me fuel for my workouts and eat smarter. My name is Gus and this is my short testimony. I joined Max Fitness on the first of February 2013 feeling sluggish and overweight. I was over 190 lbs. for the first time in my life, and it felt like I had an inner tube around my waist. I couldn’t tie my shoes because my inner tube wouldn’t let me breath. I wasn’t exercising or eating properly, and was as close to looking pregnant as I ever want to be. The first day I sat down with Benito he put me through a series of tests, and then developed a work out and diet program. I decided I needed to educate myself further so I read a book about healthy eating to better find foods that are carbs, fats, and protein. I started eating entirely different then I had been, eating less food but getting the proper nutrition for my body and guess what I wasn’t hungry! I instantly felt better and still do. Amazing! After one short month of proper diet and exercise I have lost 10 lbs. of pure body fat! I have more stamina ant fewer aches and pains. My inner tube is rapidly deflating, and my strength and breath is returning quicker than ever! My clothes look and feel way better. I’m looking forward to more positive strength gains. I don’t know why it took me so long to get back into the gym or work with a trainer but I’m eternally great full for doing so and great full to Benito for everything he has taught me along the way!
I CAME INTO THE GYM LOOKING INCREASE MY STAMINA AND MY VERTICAL JUMP. I WORKED WITH BENNY THREE DAYS A WEEK FOR AN HOUR EACH TIME, FOR A THREE MONTHS. I KNEW THE WORKOUTS WERE REALLY HARD, BUT WASNT SURE WHAT I WAS ACTUALLY GAINING FROM THEM. UNTIL ONE DAY I WENT INTO THE GYM AND WAS PLAYING BASKETBALL WITH A GROUP OF OLDER KIDS. THEY WERE PLAYING ROUGH AND PUSHING EACH OTHER AROUND. ONE OF THE GUYS PUSHED ME AND I DIDN'T MOVE. I REALIZED EVEN THOUGH THESE GUYS WERE WAY OLDER THAN ME, I HAD SOMETHING THEY DIDN'T BENNY! MY CONFIDENCE SOARED I PLAYED LIKE I NEVER PLAYED BEFORE, WITH STAMINA AND STRENGTH. I FEEL AND LOOK STRONGER AND HAVE THE CONFIDENCE I NEVER HAD BEFORE. BENNY IS A GREAT TRAINER WHO PUSHES YOU TO DO YOUR BEST. HE IS VERY GOOD AT KNOWING EXACTLY WHAT YOUR BODY NEEDS AND THE WORKOUT TO DO TO GET THE RESULTS YOU WANT. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND BENNY TO HELP YOU WITH ANY FITNESS GOALS YOU HAVE.
In the fall after I graduated college, I decided to join a gym so that I could be active and start taking some group exercise classes. I decided to start personal training because I wanted to get into the best shape possible and to continue developing healthy habits for later in life. Though I had relatively small goals in mind, I still needed help to achieve them. I wanted to make sure that I achieved them in the way that was the most beneficial. I also wanted to make sure that I accomplished them in the most constructive way possible in order to prevent injury. I met with Benito twice weekly, and he helped me build up my legs, core, and shoulders. About two months into training, Benny decided to transition to another gym. At this point, I could already see results in my legs and I didn’t want to get another trainer. So I followed Benny to MaxFitness and there we continued to build up my legs. I was feeling so good about the progress we had made and the strength that I had developed in my core that I decided to take up running. I entered into a 5k and was pretty pleased with the results. I did a few more of those and then entered into a 10k.
My legs were looking really good and I had a strong core, so at this point in my training, Benny started working on strengthening my arms while continuing my leg workouts. Training is a process and it is not always easy, but I am so pleased with the results. It was gradual and there were times that I felt like I was hardly making any progress at all. Fortunately, my friends and family stepped in and made comments and compliments on my fitness and weight loss. They provided me with the positive affirmation I need to keep going to the gym so I could accomplish my goals. Benny told me that changing up my diet would help to put me even closer to my goal weight and fitness level, so I changed my diet and steadily became leaner. This had a positive effect on working out because I had more energy and I was beginning to see more definition in my legs, core, and arms. Benny helped me with running by giving me workouts that helped with slow twitch and fast twitch muscles in my legs, which contributed to increasing my speed. I recently moved across the country to pursue graduate studies, and I am so grateful that I was able to train with Benny. I have been able to use what I learned in training sessions and continue working out on my own, which is great. For one thing, I know what I’m doing in the gym, and for another, I know that the exercises Benny has taught me to do are very effective and will help to keep me fit.
Two years ago marked a huge turning point in my life. I was finally graduating college and starting to pursue my career as a Registered Nurse. There was only one problem—I was severely overweight. When I walked across the stage at my graduation, I was 285 pounds and wore a size 20 dress. I didn’t want to be that nurse that encouraged her patients to lead a healthy lifestyle and then turned around and did the exact opposite. Up until that point, I was eating out 2-3 times per day and spending the majority of my day sitting in class. I grew up an athlete so I was no stranger to exercise, so instead I just used the “I don’t have time” excuse. Finally, it clicked in my head that I needed to make time if this was something that I really wanted. And it was. I never wanted anything more in my life than to be healthy and active again. I had tried every fad diet there was and I knew that wasn’t going to work if I wanted permanent results. This time I needed to hit the gym and I wanted a personal trainer that would be there to push me. Benito contacted me and said that he was interested in working with me to reach my goals. We set up a time to meet to determine my baseline fitness level and to begin formulating my goals. I distinctly remember saying that I wanted to be a size 12 again, and Benito replied, “Oh, well we are going to do much better than that!” It was nice to know that someone had faith in me and was willing to go above and beyond to help me. I worked with Benito 3 times per week at first. After about three months I had lost 10 pounds. I felt like for the amount of work I was doing, it should be more than that. That’s when I realized I still had my bad eating habits. If I wanted to see more results, my diet was going to have to change drastically. I cut out almost all of the fast food and sweets and was watching my calories very closely. After I did that and along with my sessions at the gym, the weight just seemed to drop off. I was dropping pant sizes so fast that I just stopped wearing jeans and lived in my scrubs because they had a draw string and I could make them smaller! When I started seeing the results, going to the gym started to become fun. I looked forward to going and challenging myself to do even better. I finally had the weight loss part down so I decided to add another goal and that was to build muscle and become strong. Benito was able to help me with that as well. That’s the great thing about having a personal trainer, they are there to help with any and every goal that you have in mind. Two years later, I have lost around 95 pounds. I went from a size 20, to a size 8. At first I could hardly go up a flight of stairs without having to stop and catch my breath. Now I can run for miles on the treadmill and have just recently reached a new max on my dead lifts of 350 pounds! I can easily say that I am in the best shape of my life! I’m even smaller now than I was in high school! I now work at Penrose Hospital and I get bariatric patients on a regular basis. I tell them my story and I let them know that yes, it is hard work and at times it’s not fun, but it can be done and it is well worth it. I can relate to them in a way that no one else can. They trust me because they know that I have been in their shoes and that I will not judge them, but instead encourage them. I have finally made that lifestyle change and I owe a great deal of thanks to Benito and all the other personal trainers for all that they do.

My name is Vanessa Lopez and am 22 years old. When I first began attending the gym I was going for the same purpose most people usually go for, weight loss. No different than anybody else who gets discouraged, I stopped going. Not only because I was discouraged, but I didn't have an idea on how to use the equipment and I didn't have a focus. Once Benny offered to help me reach my goal, I felt hopeful again. Since I was out of shape, the training was hard at first, but with time certain tasks began to become easier. I began to see improvement in my body, and my confidence began to boost. When I would attend the gym on my own, I had gained knowledge on how to use the equipment and what it was meant for. Benny also helped me improve my diet. Most trainers don't talk about what would benefit the body during my training, and breakfast became a must. I went down on clothes size and fell back in love with my body because Benny helped me push myself, and made sure I accomplished my goals.
I started working with Benito a few months after I started walking again, after being in the wheelchair. I had been doing physical therapy up to that point, but it wasn’t helping me to do anything more than just walk. When I started work with Benito, he challenged me to do things that I didn’t think I could do. He pushed me to my limits so that I was able to progress to jogging in only a few months. He helped set the foundation for me to be able to get to where I am today. Without that foundation I would not have continued to progress like I have. Benito is very knowledgeable in training, strength building, and also nutrition. Once I shared my goals with him I could tell he was already contemplating how I was going to get there and all the things I would have to do to make that happen. Benito pushes you to the limits in every workout, 45 minutes or an hour might not seem like very much time but Benito can have you crawling by the end of that short time period. It’s not that Benito pushes you to your breaking point; he just knows the training so well that he gives you the movements that target the specific muscles. With those targeted movements, less is more. You don’t need to do a thousand reps to get the same benefit. Overall I really enjoyed training with Benito. He is a cool and fun guy who you can talk to and be friends with, but when the time comes he can also become the coach who pushes you to the next level. He makes you do the things you don’t want to do in order to become the person you want to be. If I hadn’t moved away for school I would probably still be training with him today.

I approached Andrew in November of 2013 in regards to starting personal training. I wasn’t happy with my weight and the way I felt in my body. And I knew that I needed someone to show me what I needed to be doing in the gym. I knew that I needed someone to give me that extra push in the right direction. I honestly didn’t know what to expect when I started training with him, but I never expected to see the results that I have so far. Especially since I had previously had a bad experience with other personal trainers at another gym. Andrew has a great personality and is very easy to get along with which makes working with him very enjoyable. His knowledge of nutrition, fitness, and the body in general is vast. He has taken the gym, a place that I was very intimidated by, and turned it into a place that I love to be and can’t wait to go to everyday. He is very good about making sure that you understand what you are doing, what area of the body it is working and making it something that you can do on your own. He has a great way of pushing you to your full potential without you even realizing it. And above all else, he cares about his clients and shares your excitement when you achieve something you thought you could never do. Working with Andrew has been a life changing experience for me. And in the three short months that I have been training with him, I have lost 30 lbs, but I have also gained a lot of knowledge. I honestly don’t know where I would be today without his help. He has helped me change my life in a way that I never thought was possible. And I can’t thank him enough for that.
Training with Andrew has been a life changing experience. I started weight training in the winter of 2013 and have made huge gains in all aspects of my weight lifting. Andrew trained me at my own pace, but always made sure I gave full effort on every set and rep that I did. All of my lifts have gone up by at least one hundred pounds since I have started the training. Andrew changes up the workouts every session so that the body does not get used to the workouts and always mixes up the lifts. Andrew is also a huge help in dieting and nutrition. He has given me many tips on dieting and nutrition that has helped cut my body fat percentage down a substantial amount. When I first started the personal training my body fat percentage was at 22% and now it is at 15% and keeps dropping. Andrew gave me great tips on a proper diet so that I would lose fat without losing muscle. The diet has worked wonders and is the main reason why my body fat percentage has gone down so much. Andrew has suggested and recommended supplements that have also helped the gains and fat loss during my personal trainig. His wide knowledge of the different brands of supplements help him choose the best brands that help maximize results.
